Su legado vive hoy con notable distinción en su hija, Urpi Torrado, quien lidera DATUM Internacional como CEO. Urpi no solo ha sostenido lo que su padre construyó, sino que lo ha llevado más lejos, ganándose un lugar entre las voces más respetadas de nuestra profesión a nivel global. Como Embajadora de Esomar para América Latina, su compromiso con la calidad y el alcance de la investigación en la región es la expresión más viva de la visión que él sembró. It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Manuel Torrado, founder of DATUM Internacional and one of the most consequential figures in the history of market research in Latin America. On behalf of the Esomar and our global community of professionals, I extend our deepest condolences to his family and to all those whose lives and careers were shaped by his work.
Manuel was a builder in the truest sense. At a time when Peru's research sector was still finding its footing, he had the foresight and determination to establish an institution that would become a benchmark for methodological rigour and intellectual independence in the region. Through DATUM, he did not only build a company, he helped to build a profession, setting standards of excellence and ethical practice that have defined the field for decades.
His legacy is continued with remarkable distinction by his daughter, Urpi Torrado, who today leads DATUM Internacional as its CEO. Urpi has not only carried forward the standards her father established, she has elevated them, earning her place as one of the most respected voices in our global profession. As Esomar's Latin America Ambassador, her commitment to advancing the quality and reach of research across the region is a living embodiment of her father's vision. The values he built into DATUM's foundations are, through her leadership, being carried into the future.
To Urpi, to the DATUM team, and to the broader community of researchers in Peru and across Latin America: our thoughts are with you. The insights profession has lost one of its finest architects, and we are deeply grateful for everything Manuel gave to our shared discipline.
