It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to ESOMAR Latin America in Mexico City, as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this remarkable event. This conference has become a hub of knowledge, innovation and inspiration for the market research and insights industry in the region over the past two and a half decades, and it has brought together researchers, analysts, marketers and thought leaders from across Latin America and beyond to share their expertise, explore new trends and collaborate on new projects. Furthermore, after two years of being unable to meet in person, it is an honour to finally come together again for the first time since 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives, including the way we work and connect with each other. Nonetheless, our industry has shown resilience, adaptability and commitment to continuing to generate insights, innovate methodologies and support our clients and stakeholders.
Over the past 25 years, we have witnessed extraordinary changes in our industry, as technology, globalisation and social transformation have shaped the way we conduct research and understand consumers. We have seen the rise of big data, artificial intelligence and automation, as well as the emergence of new ethical and regulatory frameworks that challenge our traditional practices and demand greater transparency, diversity and accountability. Yet, despite these challenges, we have also seen remarkable achievements and opportunities. We have seen how insights can drive growth, innovation and impact businesses and societies. We have seen how research can empower and amplify diverse voices, address complex issues and promote social justice and sustainability. Furthermore, we have seen how our community can come together to inspire and learn from each other, push the boundaries of what is possible and shape the future of our industry. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: the magic of insights! As market researchers, we are privileged to have a front-row seat to the mysteries and complexities of human behaviour and decision-making. We have the power to uncover hidden patterns, unearth deep-seated emotions and reveal the untold stories that shape our world.
As we celebrate this milestone, let us reflect on the legacy and the promise of the ESOMAR Latin America event, and on the future of the market research industry. We must continue to adapt and transform in order to remain relevant and valuable to our clients and stakeholders. This requires embracing new technologies and methodologies, as well as upholding ethical standards and best practices that ensure the quality and validity of our research. Moreover, we must also recognise the market research industry has a critical role to play in driving positive change and impact. We can use our insights and expertise to inform and support businesses and organisations, but we must never lose sight of the magic that makes our work so meaningful and valuable.
As we look ahead to the next 25 years and beyond, let us embrace this responsibility with humility, curiosity and determination. Let us continue to learn, share and collaborate across borders and disciplines, push the boundaries of what is possible and create a better world for generations to come. This is a good moment to remember the incredible speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and attendees who have made this event possible year after year. Let us celebrate the knowledge, creativity and passion that have fuelled our industry and our region. Also, let us look ahead to the next 25 years with confidence, optimism and a renewed commitment to excellence and impact.
