The inaugural Insight250 legends
The Insight250 CEO, Crispin Beale, sat down with the Co-Chairs of the Insight250 Selection Committee, Kristin Luck and Mark Langsfeld, to discuss the new Insight250 Legends industry award.
In July, the third annual Insight250 awards were announced with special online and in-person events with ESOMAR’s Director General, Joaquim Bretcha, and Insight250 CEO, Crispin Beale.
The acclaimed industry awards are now expanding to add the Insight250 Legends honour. Currently, 75 insight industry experts who have made a long-standing, indelible impact on the industry and beyond through innovation, leadership, commitment, or other contributions are nominees for the honour. These 75 Legend nominees were publicly announced at the ESOMAR Congress in Amsterdam in September.
An industry-wide vote is being held at Insight250.com/legends-ballot as part of the selection process.
The Insight250 CEO, Crispin Beale, sat down with the Co-Chairs of the Insight250 Selection Committee, Kristin Luck and Mark Langsfeld, to discuss the new Insight250 Legends industry award.
Crispin: Tell us about the decision to start the Insight250 Legends award.
For the past three years, the Insight250 awards have honoured many of the best and brightest thought leaders and practitioners across market research and insights. However, there is a subset of these individuals who have been Insight250 Winners and Judges who have made incredible contributions to the industry that we felt needed to be celebrated in a special way. So, we thought it was fitting to come up with a higher-tier honour with the Insight250 Legends.”
Mark Langsfeld
Plus, once an Insight250 Legend is selected, they are no longer eligible for the annual Insight250 award, so this opens up opportunities for new experts to be recognised and their achievements championed.”
Kristin Luck
Crispin: A unique aspect of the Insight250 Legends is that there is an industry-wide vote currently occurring. Why did you decide to add this dimension to the selection process?”
The Insight250 has a mission to celebrate and elevate the insight and market research industries. We feel an important part of this is to connect people to build a community across the industry. So, we thought it made a lot of sense to include a vote in the selection process to incorporate the voice of insight professionals worldwide.”
Kristin Luck
The Insight250 awards get tens of millions of views annually and early on we have received tens of thousands of votes for the Insight250 Legends. So, there is a real interest and high engagement with these awards that we want to continually build upon.”
Mark Langsfeld
Crispin: So, with 75 current Insight250 nominees on the ballot, how many do you anticipate will ultimately be selected for the award?
That is still yet to be decided by the Selection Committee. We will close the voting later this month and then carefully review all the information for each candidate. The selection process for these awards is challenging, but something we review very carefully.”
Mark Langsfeld
We anticipate that we will likely have a larger number of Insight250 Legends selected this year than in subsequent years since it’s the inaugural edition and there are so many worthy candidates who have been nominated across the past three years.”
Crispin: Thank you for your time and continued support of these fantastic industry initiatives. Insight250 Legends voting will remain open until Monday 16th October - at Insight250.com/legends-ballot - with the Winners named in November. We can’t wait to see the results.
Good luck to all the amazing nominees, and as well as voting, I encourage everyone also to start making their suggestions for our 2024 Insight250 Winners.
