Jooble is a global job search service that millions of people in almost 70 countries regularly use to find the job of their dreams. The company has been involved in the internet recruiting industry since 2006. Over time, it has grown from a tiny startup founded by two students to a worldwide job platform that is used by a wide audience of people from around the globe. According to the SimilarWeb data, Jooble is now one of the top ten websites in the world in terms of traffic in the Jobs and Employment category. And that’s just the beginning.

Every day, the Jooble search engine aggregates openings from over 140,000 resources globally. Corporate websites, targeted ads,  social networks, and other resources are all potential sources. What does this mean to an average user? One gets access to the most relevant and up-to-date information from tens of sources — all career opportunities are available in one place. Jooble is now a worldwide Google partner, and its technology helps people overcome unemployment. But how did it all start? What is the journey of this company? It's time to pull back the curtain and tell you about it.

Jooble's History: From Startup to Industry Leader

Roman Prokofyev and Yevhen Sobakarov are the co-founders of Jooble. They first met in the technology lyceum and then selected the same faculty at the university. The two also resided in the same dormitory. There are too many coincidences, aren’t there? Well, there is a reason for that. When the two were first-year students, they began working as developers for several companies. So this is how their professional partnership has started. Jooble was developed in six months. Despite its auspicious start, the company did not turn a profit for the first 1.5-2 years. It could not afford an office or market-rate compensation for its personnel. However, a period of significant development started in 2008. It was when Jooble started getting traffic from Google.

Like Google, But for Jobs

The original version of Jooble was created in a hostel by two young men who insanely believed in their idea. At that time, they did not do any market research; they didn’t have marketers or business analysts in their team; they didn’t have a team. They just came up with the raw concept and started to implement it in reality. Interestingly, as the platform was ready for its release to a wide audience, the name for it was selected on the last day before the release. Initially, the two planned to call the platform Joogle, after Google. But they have changed their mind at the very last moment. So, this is how Jooble was born.

The Role of Core Values in Jooble's Success

Six months after the platform launch, Jooble's costs equalled his revenue. However, for the following two years, the company made no money; all finances were depleted. Despite the possibility of making substantially more via outsourcing, Yevhen decided to create Jooble, which paid much less. In 2008, Yevhen and Roman understood that Google was the key to unlocking a huge internet audience.

“We knew if we weren't available on Google, that meant that we were hidden from our target audience,” Prokofiev explains.

The partners researched strategies to get Jooble listed on Google, and when they were on the top, the site's traffic for online vacancies increased fourfold each year.
